Legislation to Divert Fuel from Strategic Reserve to Marketplace Overwhelmingly Passes House: Hill is a cosponsor of H.R. 6022 and has sent a letter to the President asking for same action

(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill is a cosponsor of legislation, H.R. 6022, which would temporarily suspend filling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for the remainder of 2008 as long as the price of oil stays above $75 per barrel.  In addition, Hill recently sent a letter to President Bush urging him to take similar action back in March.  The President’s response to the letter indicated that he was not likely to temporarily stop filling the SPR.  H.R. 6022 was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives last night in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote. ... view more

Hill Supports State Criminal Alien Assistance Program: House passed bill reimbursing states for detaining illegal immigrants last week
