David Trotter of Marysville was named to the 13-member Lamb Board by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. The board is comprised of feeders, producers and handlers and develops markets for lamb products.

Seven Floyd County high school seniors have been named semifinalists for National Merit Scholarships. Nearly 16,000 semifinalists have been named. Winners will be annouced next summer.

Hill Supports Critical Veterans' Health Services Reform Measures
(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill supported several pieces of legislation last week aimed at improving and reforming veterans’ health services. One of those, H.R. 1016, The Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act, authorizes Congress to approve veterans’ medical care funding one year in advance to better anticipate, and meet the demand for, veterans’ health care services. The advanced funding will give the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) up to a full year to plan for the most effective and efficient way of delivering medical care. Hill also voted to expand services for female veterans and increase veterans’ disability payments to reflect cost-of-living increases.

Hill Fights for More Funds for Wastewater and Sewer Programs: Offers amendment to boost account
(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill is fighting to bolster the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, a program that is critical to helping finance sewer and wastewater treatment plant projects in Southern Indiana. To that end, Hill has offered an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2010 Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act that would increase the Clean Water State Revolving Fund significantly.
