Casework Successes

Assisting constituents with problems they encounter in dealing with federal agencies is one of the most important responsibilities I have as your Congressman. And, I take that responsibility very seriously. I am pleased my office has been able to help many residents of Southern Indiana resolve these problems and a few of their testimonials are posted below. Although I cannot promise a favorable outcome, I can promise that my staff and I will work very hard on your behalf. Please contact my Bloomington office, 812-336-3000, with questions about getting such help.

"Due to a computer error, I was told I did not qualify for the economic stimulus payment. I knew this wasn’t right so I contacted Congressman Hill’s office in hopes that he could help. He worked with the IRS and I was able to receive the check that was due to me."

"My husband applied and was denied for Social Security disability twice. We contacted Congressman Hill’s office in hopes that he could help my husband get disability in time to keep the family from losing our home. He contacted the Social Security office and they were able to speed up their decision and granted us a favorable decision, allowing us to keep our home."

"After being awarded Social Security disability benefits I was owed more than $40,000 in back pay, but my payment was caught up in bureaucratic red tape and they kept giving me the run around. That’s when I turned to Congressman Hill’s office. His staff contacted Social Security and I was finally awarded the benefits."

"My insurance company was charging me penalty fees and I couldn't seem to get the problem solved. I called Congressman Hill's office, and they were able to straighten the problem out with Medicare and my insurance company. Thank you, Congressman Hill!"

"I had been awarded Social Security Disability benefits in late 2006, and had still not received my back pay. When I called Congressman Hill's office for help, they jumped right in and helped me solve my problem. I am now receiving benefits and have received the back pay I was entitled to as well."

"After being medically discharged from the Army in December 2007, I had trouble connecting with the right people to help me begin receiving my military retirement and disability benefits. Congressman Hill's office was able to help me straighten out the problem, and I began receiving my benefits soon after."

"I would like to personally thank Representative Baron Hill. He listened to my problem and then took action to resolve it when everyone else kept passing the buck. I urge all citizens to stand up and take inventory of our elected officials. It is important that the people we elect are doing their job. When I needed help, Congressman Baron Hill took care of my problem. One phone call to his office got the ball rolling. He stayed in contact with me until my problem was resolved. The buck stops here, Congressman Baron Hill gets the job done! We need to elect more people like Baron Hill who will listen to America’s needs."

"Baron Hill helped me get Social Security Disability.  His office initiated my getting an early court hearing that resulted in my getting approval for disability."

"I thank Congressman Hill's office for their help with my Social Security Disability claim.  I also think that in these modern days, it should not take 5 years and a Congressman's office to get this done.  Thanks to all of you.  God bless."

"Congressman Baron Hill responded in a professional and timely response to help speed up a resolution to my situation and I am thankful for his help."

"As a senior, I need my Social Security checks in order to get by.  But when I disenrolled from a Medicare Part D plan, Social Security continued to take the premium out of my monthly retirement check.  I tried to get the problem fixed on my own, but was getting nowhere.  It wasn’t until I called your office that the situation got settled and a refund check arrived in the mail.  Thank you so much for your prompt assistance."

"Baron Hill's office is really there to help Indiana's small business owners! Thanks for your help!"

"I want to thank you for the help you gave me with my Social Security problems. You did in three weeks what I could not do in seven months. I want to thank you and praise you for what you are doing for our veterans. God bless you and keep you."

"Please allow me to express my heartfelt gratitude to Congressman Hill and the district office staff.  For months I waited and waited for the Veterans Administration to act upon my case.  Under the watch of Congressman Hill's predecessor I had come to believe that no one was concerned with my needs and interests as a veteran.  But your office took an active interest and just about the time I had all but given up hope, you pressed the VA to facilitate a resolution.  My experience tells me there must be a rising chorus of veterans who recognize that Baron Hill is the 9th district veteran's best friend in and out of Washington.  God and a common sense electorate willing, Congressman Hill will long be here for us."

"I called, you listened, you cared and you helped me so very much! Forever grateful."

"I want to extend my appreciation to Congressman Hill for his efforts in helping me with my VA disability claim.  After trying to get temporary disability benefits for an injury and nearly exhausting my savings, I received my benefits with the help of your office. Your time and efforts have made huge difference in my life, and of my family, and I will not forget your support. Thanks!"
