(Washington, DC) - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to small businesses, private, non-profit organizations and small agriculture cooperatives in Crawford, Harrison and Perry Counties due to ice storms and heavy rains that occurred January 26, 2009 through February 13, 2009. An EIDL can help applicable organizations address necessary financial obligations that could have been met had the disaster not occurred. It provides relief from economic injury caused directly by the disaster and permits one to maintain a reasonable working capital position during the period affected by the disaster.
“I’m pleased to learn that the SBA has allowed those affected by harsh weather to apply for compensation for the damages they incurred,” Congressman Baron Hill said. “I would encourage folks to submit their loan applications as soon as possible, even though the deadline is not until March 1, 2010.”
More information about EIDLs can be found on the SBA’s web site here, http://www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance/businessesofallsizes/economicinjuryloans/index.html. And, Hill’s Washington and Indiana offices are always available to help.
