(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill supported legislation today that would provide schools more resources in teaching children about the dangers associated with predators on the Internet. The Student Internet Safety Act of 2009, H.R. 780, was passed with a bipartisan vote of 416 to 0.
H.R. 780 would expand the list of authorized activities permitted under the Enhancing Education Through Technology Program and Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program. These programs, under the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA), allow schools to develop and implement programs that promote the safe use of the Internet by students.
“This bill is focused around making sure our children are protected against online predators and exposure to inappropriate materials,” Hill said. “As such, I’m proud to support it and will continue working to strengthen such protections.”
