(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill is fighting to bolster the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, a program that is critical to helping finance sewer and wastewater treatment plant projects in Southern Indiana. To that end, Hill has offered an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2010 Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act that would increase the Clean Water State Revolving Fund significantly.
“There are several towns and cities in Southern Indiana that need to improve their sewer and wastewater treatment facilities to protect public health and safety,” Hill said. “And, these improvements are critical to improving necessary community infrastructure. It’s all connected – without good infrastructure our communities cannot attract nor retain businesses, and create good-paying jobs and good quality of life for residents. Particularly during this time of economic difficulty, it’s imperative the federal government prioritize. And, this is a priority for Southern Indiana.”
Hill’s amendment would increase the Clean Water State Revolving Fund by $20 million. So as to adhere with pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) rules, that increase would be offset by reductions in other parts of the bill.
