(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill is pleased to announce that the Bloomington Housing Authority is set receive $203,898.00 in grant money through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The federal funds will come through HUD’s Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program.
This funding is being awarded to public housing agencies that have agreed to partner with eligible VA medical facilities to provide rental assistance under a supportive housing program for homeless veterans.
In response to news of the forthcoming grant award, Jennifer Osterholt, Executive Director of the Bloomington Housing Authority, said, “HUD’S Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program will provide the Bloomington Housing Authority with 35 vouchers specifically targeted to assist homeless veterans in the Bloomington area.” In addition, Osterholt stated, “The Bloomington Housing Authority will work closely with Veteran Affairs Medical Centers to manage the program. The program is designed to offer eligible homeless veterans clinical and supportive services along with rent assistance. VA Medical Center case managers will work closely with the BHA to help participants find suitable housing. The BHA looks forward to partnering with HUD’s Veterans Affairs to serve the most vulnerable veterans in the Bloomington area.”
