(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill is pleased to announce that Jeffboat LLC is set to receive $2,391,837 awarded through the Maritime Administration’s Assistance to Small Shipyards program, under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  

According to the Maritime Administration, funds from this particular program will help create and preserve jobs, provide valuable employment training and make much needed improvements to shipyards across the country.  The program provides 75 percent federal funds with 25 percent matching funds from the shipyard for capital improvements and related infrastructure improvements which will foster efficiency, competitive operations and quality ship construction and repair.  The money for Jeffboat LLC will go toward slipway repair and aerial lifts.

“I am very pleased Jeffboat LLC has secured this grant,” Hill said.  “They are a significant source of employment in our community, and I believe this is an excellent example of ARRA funds flowing directly back to Southern Indiana.”
